What is your blog called?
When did you start blogging and why?
My blog was born in January 2015. I started my blog as a hub for my creative life. I wanted to motivate myself to dive deeper into the world of creativity, art and design.
Was there a particular blog that inspired you to start?
Yes! The Jealous Curator was and still is such an inspiration for me.
How do you curate your content?
I love to talk about artists, designers and startups. It’s quite a mix of interesting things I discover and people I meet online and in the real world. I talk about my own creative projects and recently I have also started to talk about my experience as a freelancer. I like to share with my readers what I have learned and what cool products, brands and people I have FOUND.
Where do you find inspiration?
That’s a tough question. I get inspired by talking to like-minded people, by browsing the web, by going to innovative events and by keeping my eyes and ears open. I have the feeling that most of my inspirations come to me somehow. It’s magic!
How do you stay motivated?
Having my blog has opened up so many cool opportunities, I wouldn’t want to all give it up. It’s sometimes difficult to stay motivated, and there are always ups and downs but my blog means I stay creative, active and productive. That motivates me to keep going.
Which blogs do you read regularly?
I’m a fan of Graphique Fantastique. I love reading about Graphic Design and since I know Natasha personally it’s great to see what she has been up to. I’m also still loyal to my first inspiration The Jealous Curator. She posts a new contemporary artist every day. I love it!
How long does it take to write a blog post?
It depends on the topic but I’d say it takes me in average 2-3 hours per post including designing or editing the images. I always think I can do it in less time but the truth is creating content can sometimes take much longer than I imagine.
How do you promote your posts?
I promote my posts mainly on social media – Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram – with Twitter and Facebook being the most successful traffic drivers. Half of my blog traffic comes from social media. It’s very effective for me.
How did you grow your social media following?
It’s a mix of actions: – Posting constantly – Engaging with other bloggers and people – Attending Twitter chats – Following other accounts.
Which is your favourite social media platform?
That’s tricky. As I mentioned before, Twitter turns out to be the most effective social media platform for my blog. Facebook works because of my curious friends. Instagram is my favourite at the moment though. I like to curate my feed and connect with other like-minded people on the platform. I probably see the most engagement on this platform (over a 100 likes on a post for example) compared to Facebook (you need to pay for engagement) and Twitter (retweets and likes are still quite low compared to the following, and that applies to every account).
