What is your blog called?
When did you start blogging and why?
I started blogging over 2 years ago because I kept looking at other sites and blogs to help me style the home as well as make and create new things. I decided to document the things I do via my blog so that one day the DIY tutorials come in useful and at the same time where my home design posts help inspire someone else.
Was there a particular blog that inspired you to start?
That’s a tough one because I go to so many different sites for very specific guides or tutorials. I wouldn’t say there was one in particular but rather an amalgamation of sites. And now, I am constantly browsing and finding new gems in the blogging world which I enjoy.
How do you curate your content?
I feel I’m very seasonal. I love writing about DIY, fresh plants, the garden and about bright interiors when it gets warmer (which doesn’t happen often in the UK!) whereas I tend to stick to decorating with deeper colours and cosy corners in the autumn and winter. I always try to balance my writing but with a full time job it can get pretty busy 😉
Where do you find inspiration?
I do love Pinterest a lot, especially for crafts. I’m also subscribed to interior magazines which I love to browse through for fun more than anything and usually an idea or two would pop into my head. Most of the time though, it would be a Google search and a YouTube find.
How do you stay motivated?
I’m a very enthusiastic person, I can’t help it – I just like things to be half full 😉 Well, when it comes to motivation, especially as I don’t want my blog to be a business but a hobby, I tell myself that it’s what makes me happy. The Fairytale Pretty Picture helps me stay creative, continue writing, learn new things and meet amazing new people too.
Which blogs do you read regularly?
How long does it take to write a blog post?
I tend to think quality over quantity so I take as long as I need to in order to have lovely photography, useful, fun or inspirational content and I’ve also recently started a YouTube channel so I’ve been including videos as well like a DIY tutorial or a travel log.
How do you promote your posts?
I can get lazy with promotion and my Facebook one is automated. I’m usually on Twitter though and I like to post once a day on Instagram. Oh, I have a monthly newsletter too 🙂
How did you grow your social media following?
Little by little! I’m still yet to crack it but I guess it’s by taking the opportunity to speak to new people and be proud of what you write by sharing it with others. I can get quite shy at time though so I guess it’s about being patient too and persevering.
Which is your favourite social media platform?
It’s neck and neck between Instagram & Pinterest. Two very good platforms for inspiration, DIY, crafts and amazing photography.
