What’s your blog name?
When did you start blogging and why?
I was a full time interior designer, back in 2009 I fell ill due to a health condition that I had as a child, resulting in many hospital visits and operations. As I was unable to work I felt frustrated and needed to write about design and things that I loved. It has slowly developed from there. Blogging became a great way for me to express my love for design while being at home and resting up.
Was there a particular blog that inspired you to start?
How do you curate your content?
I don’t have a formula, I just write about what catches my eye and the design or destinations that I love. The style and message is very important to me, great design, minimal, stylish and mostly Scandinavian. If that’s clear then I’m happy mixing up when I write certain posts.
Where do you find inspiration?
In so many places! I go to a lot of design shows, again trying to keep it all relevant to my interests and message. There’s inspiration everywhere from social media to researching stylists and interior designers work. At the moment I’m obsessed with new nordic cuisine, the concept is so interesting (plus I love food), the restaurants are designed SO well and have great style and integrity. I’ve been travelling to Scandinavia a lot this year and have found my spiritual home, which is ALL of Scandinavia! Well I am half Danish so there’s the influence there.
How do you stay motivated?
Coffee…..lots of coffee….plus once I see new products from my favourite brands it gets me all excited to share, style and chat about it, of course! If you feel demotivated at work then you’re probably doing the wrong task. I try to have fun with it all and not care too much but still do the best job I can. When I get a really great project through the blog I may be found having a 30 second dance party in the office….then back to work, haha!
Which blogs do you read regularly?
Ems designblogg, Lotta Agaton, April and May, Coco Lapine Design, A Merry Mishap, just to name a few… there are SO many that I read or scan through if I don’t have time….and all of my friends blogs of course!
How long does it take to write a blog post?
It can take me from a few hours to a few days, it really depends on the project. I’m not one to blast out blog posts daily, I prefer to take my time with it. I struggle to believe that there’s people out there waiting by the computer for the next post. Yes they may enjoy the blog and like to read it but it’s no news bulletin, it can wait until I’m happy with it.
How do you promote your posts?
I use bloglovin which is great for sharing it automatically via twitter and newsletters. I also mention it on Instagram and Facebook. It would be great if someone did that for me, it takes a lot of time!
How did you grow your social media following?
Initially through Twitter as back in the day (2010) that was the main platform. Then slowly through other forms of social media and joining groups like urban jungle bloggers and styling the seasons, they’re great for exposure plus fun!
Which is your favourite social media platform?
It has to be Instagram, I love how visual it is, the idea of instantly sharing a styled interiors shot excites me, it gives a personal approach to social media too, oh and cats!
